spinning to pass the time

i've been spinning again! lately it has interested me more than knitting, but I go back and forth with it, you know. a very nice friend at home gave me a couple of balls of dyed fiber, so i spun that up. here it is:

anyhow, that's what I've been doing around running errands and getting Patrick in school. OH, yeah, I also started on a stuffed bear for my sister's baby! I'm still looking for a sweater pattern that I like. I saw some cute patterns for the under 3yo set in a book called "daddy's girl", but I just don't know that it's going to be a girl! I'm sure they will be finding out asap, so I will have time to prepare either way. I've had a few weeks to rest and to get to know the area, which isn't too hard. but I do have to say that fort worth is certainly not laid out easily like Indianapolis! it's got lots of one way streets all right, but some sections go on a straight grid and them some of the streets turn and that section goes at a funky angle to all the rest! a good way to get lost in a hurry!
visited the fort worth main library yesterday, and the irving main library today. they are both quite good size buildings! the folks i asked for help at the fort worth main library were not very forthcoming, i had to ask one guy several times where to find different sections of the collection since they were'nt in order. they had taken some sections and moved them behind other sections, very confusing! I asked him for a map of which sections were where, and he said, "oh, yeah, you're the second person to ask for one of those and I think we're out". no offer to see if he could find one for me, no "hang on a second and I will get one for you" not even "there's another desk just down there and they should have them. only silence. so i went back to him for every question i had since he acted like i was in his way. i wonder if he will recognize me tuesday when i go in for orientation? oh well, live and learn i guess.
i went into the irving library today and they were very nice! nice little library! friendly folks too!
I also went in and saw my branch library last saturday, the one where i will be working, it's a very nice little library, i will post pictures in a week or two. i will have my work cut out for me as they are pretty busy! it's mostly hispanic, so i hope i can get a good bilingual volunteer for a once a month bilingual storytime. well, that's probably enough chatter for now. more later, after i start work!
oh, btw, i'm going to check out a local yarn store this weekend, should be fun!

Hey kid. How are things going? Job and all OK Kathy is keeping Fred right now. She calls him her rent a dog. Pretty cute huh. Now she is upset that Greg has replaced her and she hasn't even moved her furniture out. Who'd a thunk Greg could even get a date. OOOOHHHHH! Love You MOM
