new job is awesome though! door count of over 1000 a day! helped a patron today with a report on a person, of course, small branch, no book on said person, but...online databases to the rescue! in less than 5 minutes I had a bio of said person printed out for the patron. Mom, patron, sis, bro and all were pleased to be done and on their way, and no waiting for the computers (an hour wait, at that time of day). Yeah me! If you think this was "doing their work for them" go read Rick Andersen's presentation "Always a river, sometimes a Library". he's from u. of nevada-las vegas. then go check out the "tame the web" post titled ten tech things for librarians to be aware of. This is the future of library service, and the folks will be much more likely to come back since their experience was fast, pleasant, and to the point.
back to knitting again after being out of it for a bit. working on a baby dress in inca alpaca, it's soooo soft! also working on a big teddy bear for little Baby Dailey! Shhh! Don't tell Jill and Derek! I'm sooooo glad I'm finally going to be an auntie! I can't wait! it's very nearly as good as being a mom again myself, of course without the lack of sleep and dirty diapers.
Below you can see the new "night" light we got for Patrick's room, it throws moons stars and planets up on the walls and ceiling! Very cool! and there's the boy himself, sitting at his desk under his bed, all ready to do some homework!

So when are we going to see the rest of Patrick's cool room? Is the bed finished? I hope so...it would really suck to have to sleep on the floor...PLUS I hear there are some nasty creepy-crawlies in the Lone Star State!
BTW: Is it true that the anti-litter campaign says "Don't Mess with Texas"?
Finally found your blog. Great read!
Patrick has always been an amazing kid and now that he has his own room --- it will be interesting to see how his imagination will grow. The moon and stars nightlight is so cool. Where did you get it?
As another IUPUI-MLS graduate I find your adventures in the Texas library system equally interesting. Where's that Texas hospitality? Perhaps a former Indiana resident can show them a thing or two.
