I had a couple of folks ask about the pattern for the baby sweater in the last post. That one is in the "Debbie Bliss Toy Knits" book, which I believe is still available for around $15, check amazon. The pattern is "Teddy bear and smock" pages 22 and 55 in that book. I will warn you, there are some glitches in the cabled part of the pattern. The back of the sweater works out fine, as do the sleeves and the rest, but the way they have the pattern written out for the cables on the two front pieces just does not work, I tried it about four times, being very sure I was following along exactly as written! Then I went on my own and for each row, did what was called for by the stitches as presented, to make it come out correctly. The good news is that by the time you have successfully completed the cabling on the back, you are ready for this challenge! I just need to block the sweater so it lays flat and doesn't curl up like it's currently doing. I'm in the middle of one of the EZ (Elizabeth Zimmerman) baby sweater patterns too. this one is done with a "gull wing" stitch/lace pattern, and it's truly pretty. Of course I committed the cardinal sin of starting a new project, I had only a partial ball of the yarn I wanted to use, so had to order some more. I'm going to go check today to see if it's here yet. In the meantime I started another one, this time with plenty of yarn, in the same pattern. This second one will be small enough, and lightweight enough, that she can wear it later this summer, or when she's inside. The other one is from wool and sized about for six months, so that she can have one to wear this fall. Let's see if I can get a good picture of the partially completed sweater. Well, I got a picture, but it's so bad I'm ashamed to post it here.
I'm going to try again with my cell phone camera, maybe it will do better. Oh yeah, that's much better!
