Blogging here just for myself

I don't know about you all but I was hoping to eventually get some readers. I know the posts have been few and far between lately, but life gets busy. I took Saturday off to go to a fiber fest, then found out that this particular place wanted no kids under 16 at this event, which was an alpaca shearing. I looked closer at their website to find that they didn't want anyone under 10 on their farm at all. As I have a very well-behaved 8 yo, I decided that I wouldn't go there. Luckily for me I found that there was another event happening only an hour's drive away, which is no more than I would have had to drive for the alpaca shearing. So, off I went to Farmersville. There I met a man who raises Jacobs sheep, watched him shear one, and bought a fleece off of him. I also spent a bit of time inside the fiber/antique shop that sponsored the shearing talking with some other spinners and spinning on my Joy wheel. I had just bought some green merino top from JKnits, and it's spinning up very nicely. I also took the opportunity to Easter Egg dye some BFL lamb fleece I had left over from an exchange. Isn't it pretty?
Only the pink is not from the lamb fleece, it's some bfl roving from the same project. don't know yet what i'm going to do with any of this, but will comb the lamb fleece and spin it up. I have a fair amount of white left also, but it is still in need of being washed. I have washed the majority of the Jacob fleece already, and can't wait for the stuff to dry. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to blend it or separate the colors. There's a fair amount of both black and white. Maybe I'll make a black and white sweater coat?
There's lots of possibilities. The bluebonnets are blooming like crazy around here now, and the Indian paintbrush have joined them this week. there are also little light pink things that look like buttercups, and some dark pink ones the same type. I've also seen lately lots of the yellow stuff that's about as big as baby's breath, some yellow flowers with red centers, some teeny tiny light pink ones that are so small you can hardly see them, and today i think i saw the first of the jerusalem artichokes coming up.
Here's a pic of Patrick in the bluebonnets, which seems to be a common thing to do to your kids around here:
We also went to the Carson and Barnes circus on Friday night, that was a lot of fun! Here's a pic of my favorite critters, the elephants. We weren't very far away from any of the action, and all had a good time. well, I better get moving on making some dinner if I plan on eating!

Hey Joy!

I enjoyed catching up with you by reading your blog! Love the pic you're working on. Tomorrow we're having Susan's baby shower - did you know she was pregnant? She's due May 25. Wow!

Now I just have to check out the guinea pig blog. Take care!

Wanted to let you know I stopped by your blog. What gorgeous spring flowers you have there! We get the cherry blossoms in DC, and lots of tulips, etc. But that field of bluebonnets is just wonderful!

Hi Cheryl and Hannah,
thanks for stopping by to read my blog! I'm working on something for Susan J's baby, I knew she was pregnant but not due so soon! Let me know what you think of Dewey's Library too!
Hannah, those are Bluebonnets, the official state flower of Texas, and they have been absolutely everywhere this year. It's been a rainy enough spring to have a good crop of wildflowers, and they make the drive to work every day a bit brighter!
